100% Pure Slide Salon

2010 Competition

Due to a serious decline in the number of entries from previous years the 100% Pure Slide Salon was cancelled this year. Only six entries were received and at least 30 are required for the salon to break even. The organisers thanked those who supported the salon over the last two years and expressed hope that the competition could be resurrected at some point in the future.

Background

At the 2007 Southern Regional in Alexandra hosted by the Southland Photographic Society a small dedicated group of slide workers from SPS put forward the suggestion that we organise a dedicated slide competition. The response from photographers at the convention persuaded us to go ahead with the idea.

All images must be exposed on transparency film and developed in a chemical process. No digitally exposed or computer manipulated images on transparency film are permitted in the salon. Each year we approach a different PSNZ club and ask for three judges to assess the salon.

Graham Dainty designed our logo and we went ahead with the inaugural salon in 2008. This salon was supported by 55 entrants including four from Australia. Gold, Silver and 3 Bronze Awards, 11 Honours and 81 Acceptances were awarded.

While the 2009 Salon had only 34 entrants, it was still a successful salon with a Gold, Silver and Bronze Award, 3 Honours and 57 Acceptances awarded.
