SUMMARY:Thames Steampunk Festival
DESCRIPTION:We have an opportunity (vs a true workshop) for 4 of our members to be the official volunteer photographers for the Steampunk Festival in Thames from 8-10th November 2024. This year’s theme is “Down The Rabbit Hole”. \n\n\n\nThe schedule over the weekend is action packed with lots of great photographic opportunities. The leader of our group of 4 photographers would provide the Steampunk society an edited set of photographs (the best from all 4 volunteers) after the event for their use but the photos taken remain the property of the photographer that took them. \n\n\n\nOur photographers would be provided with a photographic pass allowing them to get upfront and stage-front to all of the action. \n\n\n\nThe schedule is as follows: \n\n\n\nFriday 8th November \n\n\n\n\n3-5pm. High Tea and Tea Duelling competition.\n\n\n\n\nSaturday 9th November \n\n\n\n\n11am-2pm Street parade\, vehicles\, floats\, people in costume\, Thames market.\n\n\n\n2-3pm. The Strut. A staged catwalk type event.\n\n\n\n\nSat evening functions (2 photographers per function\, 120-150 people per function) \n\n\n\n\nA Victorian Masked Ball\, Victorian costume\, Victorian dancing etc\n\n\n\nA mad hatters party at The Pump House. \n\n\n\n\n(A Photo Booth will likely be set up for both evening events and possibly the High Tea. The booths and lighting gear are being supplied by a local professional photographer). \n\n\n\nSunday 10 th November \n\n\n\n\nCommunity fair\, “Unplugged Sunday”> Punk My Pet> Tea Pot Racing> MonsterPot Racing> Airships Racing> Live Music> Hobby Horse Racing> Parasol Duelling\n\n\n\n\nOur photographers would have free access to all of the events over the weekend but would need to provide their own accommodation and transport. (Some accommodation by billet may be available\, if required). \n\n\n\nIdeally your camera should be able to trigger an off-camera flash. Triggers for Canon and Sony are being provided for the photo booths\, but contact Jayne if you want to check the compatibility of your camera). \n\n\n\nf you are interested in this opportunity please log into the Member’s Area to register. If you have any questions\, please contact Jayne Parker at jayneparkernz@gmail.com. \n\n\n\nJayne Parker will be the remote team leader. She will liaise with the Steampunk committee representative to finalise arrangements\, including the photo booth requirements\, and coordinate the team across all of the events as well as pull together an edited set of photos from the team to be provided to the Steampunk committee. (Editing would be done by team members but the leader would need to ensure photo quality was appropriate and duplication of subject matter minimised). \n\n\n\nThere are currently 3 spots available for roving for photographers. \n\n\n\nFor more information visit their web site https://steampunkthethames.co.nz \n\n\n\nOn behalf of The PSNZ Workshop team

SUMMARY:Garden Photography by Jane Dove Juneau
DESCRIPTION:Jane Dove Juneau spends a lot of time in other people’s gardens. The Taranaki-based photographer shoots gardens and houses throughout the region for NZ House and Garden\, Your Home and Garden\, and other magazines\, and also produces beautiful images of the New Zealand landscape that have been published in several books. Join us in New Plymouth to learn about Garden Photography and be inspired by Janeand her composition skills. We will have access to a private garden that stars in the annual Powerco Garden Festival and also photograph a hidden public gem – Tūpare. Tūpare has recently earned the NZ Gardens Trust highest six-star rating – a distinction shared only by 13 other locations nationally. \n\n\n\nThe weekend will commence at 5pm on Friday for a 2 hour intro and tuition session on “getting it right in camera” before heading out to both gardens on Saturday. The weekend will conclude with a morning editing and feedback session. (Lightroom or Photoshop are recommended for this session).
