The impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has forced PSNZ Council, in conjunction with the Christchurch organising committee, to make the decision to cancel this year’s national convention, scheduled to be held in Christchurch on 23 – 26 April, 2020.
Paramount to this decision is the health and wellbeing of delegates and members.
It has been incredibly difficult to come to this final decision, as it affects other components of a national convention, i.e. the AGM, trade stands, SONY National Exhibition and the CR Kennedy Honours banquet.
We are currently discussing the best way to manage the announcement of the SONY National Exhibition results with the key personnel involved.
This situation has also led to the cancellation of this weekend’s judging of the 2020 honours submissions.
We know this is very disappointing news to all members who have submitted sets, (who have already been contacted) however these are exceptional circumstances we are all facing. This decision has been made with a heavy heart as we are very conscious of the hard work, time and cost members invest in their submission.
The Honours Board will reconvene in their normal style (physical meeting) when the country and the health risks are stabilised. This will ensure that all submissions are assessed to the usual high standard, as we believe all applicants deserve a fair and level playing field for the assessment of their set.
More information will be shared when we have worked through alternative arrangements.
We thank all members for their understanding and patience in this uncertain time.
