Conventions are great for inspiration, learning and friendship. They are all here in abundance.
Last evening we were inspired by the amazing photography of Helmut Hirler, who specialises in highly panoramic, black and white, infrared film photography. Here he is (with needed help) showing just one of the photographs.
Helmut was followed by spectacular “fire spinners” out on the lawn.
This morning’s inspiration came from Eva Polak, who challenged us all to think out of the box and seek “light, form and colour” to photograph. Her images are just beautiful.
Then we broke up into workshops to learn about different topics, including more inspiration and explanations about techniques from Eva.
We headed off on field trips for the afternoon. The one I was on went to three industrial locations around Palmerston North. Here’s some of the participants photographing the old Keith Street Power Station.
People have also been checking out the trade shows at the convention – with lots of lust-worthy gear. Below is Ken from Photo Warehouse showing off the brand new Canon EOS-M with an adapter and 24-70 mm lens.
