Wild West Coast with Rachel Gillespie

19 September @ 4:00 PM 21 September @ 3:30 PM

Rachel Gillespie runs an accredited full time Guiding and Tourism Photography Business roaming the length and breadth of the South Island. Born and bred here and with a great passion for landscape photography, she’s the perfect person to guide us through her backyard to more magical locations.

This workshop will be based in Greymouth which is within easy reach of many epic West Coast locations.  Our time will be divided between being on-location and Lightroom processing tutorials balanced according to the weather and the preferences of those attending.

We will offer much more than taking you to great locations. Rachel will make each location a teachable moment and offer coaching on settings, techniques and optimising compositions. She will show you to make a great image from a good image and managing dynamic range. Helping you express your emotional connection to the landscape and doing the best possible job of getting it right in camera.

Includes:

  • Taking you to our favourite secret spots that come from years of exploring and finding awesome compositions in the area
  • Coaching in mastering your camera settings and finding the best compositions while on location
  • Teaching you how to use Neutral Density filters (please bring  yours if you can)
  • Teaching you the principles of landscape and aerial photography and techniques to capture epic images
  • Personal coaching with your gear, making sure you get the best out of it
  • Post processing tuition, learning to create beautiful images from the images you capture

The workshop will begin at 4.00 in Greymouth at the St John Community Room for an introduction to the weekend followed by a sunset shoot and end mid-afternoon on Sunday 21st September.

PSNZ Cancellation Policy

Due to the nature of the PSNZ Workshop Series and that the workshops are generally for small groups and often over-subscribed, cancellations can have a significant financial and attendance effect on the workshop, as well as creating a lot of further administration work.

Although we do everything possible to ensure our workshops proceed, sometimes there are things beyond our control. We strongly advise members to take out the low-cost travel
insurance ($20) that Air NZ offer to cover non-cancellable costs such as airfares and accommodation) or to use motels that don’t require advance payment.

  • PSNZ reserves the right to postpone or cancel a workshop due unforeseen circumstances e.g. facilitator illness, venue access issues, etc. In the event we do cancel a planned workshop, we will attempt to inform attendees as soon as possible and in most cases you will be given an alternative date to attend or provided with a full refund of the workshop costs.
  • If a workshop is postponed, the first right of refusal will be given to those who were already booked on that workshop for the rescheduled workshop.
  • Should a workshop fail to attract a required minimum number of attendees to make it viable to run, PSNZ reserves the right to cancel the workshop.
  • PSNZ will not accept responsibility for travel and accommodation costs incurred by attendees.
  • Attendees may cancel their booking if they give 60 days’ notice prior to the commencement of their workshop and receive a full refund less a $20 administration fee.
  • If attendees give less than 60 days’ notice, then we will do our best to fill your place from the waitlist. If we are able to do this, we will refund your fee less a $20 administration fee. Otherwise no refund will be made.
  • PSNZ may give a full refund if there are exceptional circumstances involved in a person not being able to attend.
