Selection of images for the PSNZ National Exhibition of Photography took place last weekend at Whitireia Polytechnic in Paraparaumu. I would like to acknowledge the hard work done by all the nine selectors, as well as the magnificent effort by more than twenty volunteers from the Kapiti Coast Photographic Society for what is a very large and complex logistical exercise. The selection process took until noon Sunday.

255 entrants entered a total of 1728 images: 800 open digital projected images, 389 open prints, 407 nature digital projected images, and 132 nature prints.

The selectors had to work hard to make the final selection. Inevitably not all images could be selected, and where there were some similar images some hard choices had to be made, to compile an Exhibition reflecting the quality and range of the entries.

534 images were chosen by the selectors: 228 open digital projected images, 136 open prints, 111 nature digital projected images, and 59 nature prints.

All entrants were advised of their individual results on Tuesday, and on Wednesday this listing of all selected images was also sent to all entrants. This is essentially the same information as will appear within the printed Natex 2013 catalogue, which is kindly and generously sponsored by Canon. However, there are likely to be some small editorial amendments to what appears in the official catalogue version.

Congratulations to all who had images selected, and especially to the award winners.

Award winning images should be uploaded to the PSNZ website in the next day or two. That will be announced in another blog post. Meanwhile, have a happy and safe Easter.
