 Star Trailsstar trails

Ever wondered how they are done?  Chris Helliwell will be talking to us on Sunday morning at the APIX / PSNZ Central Regional about how he achieves his fantastic star trail images.  What is involved in the process or making the final image that you see. This is definitely one talk not to be missed!

 Sub Antarctic Adventuressub-antartic

Chris Helliwell was lucky enough last year to win a competition that took him on an adventure of a lifetime. On Friday night after the official opening of our APIX / PSNZ Central Regional Convention Chris will talk about the amazing time he spent on the New Zealand sub Antarctic Islands (Auckland Islands & Campbell Island). Chris will talk about the amazing flora & fauna to be found on the islands as well as his family’s connection to the Dundonald that ship wrecked on the Auckland Islands in 1907.

Macro Photography Exposed macro

If you want to understand what it take to capture amazing Macro images come along and hear Chris Helliwell from NZ Exposed Photography (www.nzexposed.co.nz) talk about the different equipment, lens, lighting, extension tubes, accessories and camera settings required for Macro photography.

Chris will also show you some of his images and explain the “behind the scenes” tips and techniques used to create them. After this there will be some practical time to use the new tips and skills you have just heard about so bring your camera along.

This workshop limited to 15  per session so book early to avoid disappointment. At present there are only 5 places remaining in total.

 Pauatahanui Village & Reservepauatahanui

Pauatahanui Inlet is the only large estuarine wetland left in the lower half of the North Island. The reserve has many photographic opportunities from macro to wildlife.

Across from the reserve is the Historic Pauatahanui Church and cemetery. Photograph the church, the old wrought iron fences and headstones, or take in the entire landscape.

Chris will be one of the leaders on this workshop.  He has spent many hours photographing the wildlife that can be found in the area and knows all the spots to visit.
